Japan will host Rugby World Cup 2019 and they hope to do so as a team that is capable of getting to the quarterfinals and beyond.

Based on past World Cup results that will be no easy feat, but recent results have seen the Brave Blossoms rise up the world rankings, and coach Eddie Jones has said that he believes his side can make the last eight in next year’s tournament despite them being grouped with two-time champions South Africa, Scotland, Samoa and the United States.

Japan made sure of their spot in Pool B by winning the 2014 Asian 5 Nations.

Rich Freeman of ¬†Kyodo News and Rugby News Japan was on hand at the final sporting event at Tokyo’s iconic National Stadium as the Brave Blossoms beat Hong Kong in the final game of the tournament to make sure they were once again Asia’s representative at rugby’s flagship tournament.
